Begum Rokeya University of Rangpur (BRUR), formerly Rangpur University, is a government-financed public state university in Bangladesh. It was named after the feminist writer and social worker Begum Rokeya. It is the 30th public university of Bangladesh. It was established on 8 October 2008 under Begum Rokeya University Act, 2009 (2009–29). The university is between Rangpur Cadet College and Carmichael College in Rangpur. It covers an area of 75 acres (30 ha). The university has constructed four academic building and started class from August 2011 in the main campus. Currently, the university has 21 departments and almost 7,000 students. It contains three student halls (two male and one female). There are a library and a cafeteria on the campus.

The University of Barisal is a public university located in Barisal, a city in southern Bangladesh.[1] It is the only general public university in Barisal division and the country's 33rd public university. It was established in 2011 and started educational activities on 24 January 2012. The university offers degrees in undergraduate levels. There are twenty academic departments under six faculties. The university campus covers an area of 50 acres, and is landscaped around the Kirtankhola river with field areas and plants making the campus a natural arboretum.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) (Bengali: বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) is a public university located in Gobra, Gopalganj, Bangladesh. It was established in 2001 and named after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.[1] The Academic activities of the university starts from 2011. Its mission is "To establish a digital university in Bangladesh that produces high quality graduates to propel bangladesh towards a digitally enriched nation in the world". This university is determined to bring the dream of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman into reality.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU) was established in 2013, the 37th public university of the country. It is the first maritime University in Bangladesh, the 3rd maritime university in South Asia and the 12th maritime university in the world. the University is still in an early stage; it has issued its first calls for admission in December 2016. The University has its temporary campus at Pallabi, Mirpur-12 in Dhaka. But permanent campus will be established at 106-acre land at Hamidchar, Bakolia in Chittagong.

Rangamati Science and Technology University is a public university located in Rangamati, Bangladesh. It has faced vocal opposition from local groups such as Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS) because they believe that students, staff, and faculty would come predominantly from outside the Chittagong Hill Tracts, and their settlement in Rangamati would change the character of the region. The first batch of 75 students began classes in November 2015, at a temporary campus set up at Tabalchharhi Shah High School.

Rabindra University is a public university of Bangladesh. It is located in Shahjadpur Upazila of Sirajganj. In the academic year 2017-2013, the program was started with 105 students in 3 departments. After the name of Rabindranath Tagore, the university has renamed the university. Under the Faculty of Arts, the Department of Rabindra Studies introduced. Department of Economics, Cultural Heritage and Bangladesh Studies and Social Science Faculty launched in the year 2017-2018. The program started with 35 students in each division with 105 students. In the academic year 2018-19, the Management Studies division began with 35 students under the Faculty of Business Education.

Sheikh Hasina University of Netrokona (Bengali: শেখ হাসিনা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) is a government-financed public university of Bangladesh. On 30 January 2017 in a regular cabinet meeting, chaired by the prime minister, agreed in principle to the Acts for the Sheikh Hasina University in Netrokona District. The initial plan was to set up a science and technology university in Netrokona, but it was later revised to a 'general' university, offering courses in arts, commerce other than science. At present, there are a total of 38 public universities in the country, and the number will stand at 40 with the new two universities.
